Winner of the 2024 McCash Scots Poetry Prize
I am a writer and performer based in Aberdeen who often works across creative disciplines to explore stories connected with the North East of Scotland and beyond. My first poetry collection DWAMS (Tapsalteerie) was longlisted for Poetry Book of the Year at the 2024 Saltire Awards and nominated for Best Scots Book at the 2024 Scots Language Awards.
Other works include Nevertheless: Sparkian Tales in Bulawayo (amaBooks), The Bill Gibb Line (Look Again; Aberdeen Art Gallery), ‘The Shelter’ (National Theatre of Scotland) and ‘DREEPIN’ (Fertile Ground).
I completed a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Aberdeen, writing a series of short stories focused on decline and renewal in the North East fishing communities called Orra Though It Be. These stories have appeared in national publications including Gutter, Stand, Northwords Now and New Writing Scotland.
I am a Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Aberdeen. I've also worked on various creative projects, both locally and internationally. I can be booked for events and workshops through Scottish Book Trust's Live Literature programme, or contacted directly.
